This was just so boring...so much comedic talent left to fend for themselves because the plot was barely above an improv conceit. With so much good comedy on Netflix, just skip to that and avoid this clunker. I'd give it one star, but the ensemble does valiant work trying to save you from boredom.

The absolute BEST Godzilla film from Toho Studio. Godzilla itself was impressively rendered and depicted. The story had real purpose and gravity without being heavy handed. It is the first time aToho Godzilla movie plot riveted me when the beast itself wasn't onscreen. And trust me, when Godzilla is onscreen, it's epic. Cannot rave enough about it...just BRAVO 👏👏👏

First off, this is new take on Comedy Central's "@Midnight" (which I liked)...so I was already in. I applaud CBS for having Taylor Tomlinson host. Her sardonic wit and improv skill makes it more challenging for the guests to impress her. The guest panelists have overall been good, even if I don't know half of them. My only gripes are 1) they kinda keep futzing with format (the "games" are REALLY hit/miss) and pacing, so it gets inconsistent (the 5/20/24 show was messy, because showrunners changed at least 50% of the format...which sucked, because it was a GREAT panel) and 2) it's on at 12:30am...only mature audiences would be up. STOP CENSORING the content so much !!! So stick to a format, let the raunch fly, and let Taylor do her thing! It may suit the show to have a more "The Graham Norton Show" (YouTube him) feel with games just interspersed. Taylor's talk show portion already has that feel. That way, it doesn't have to be an all-comedian panel and guests can just be loose.

Gotta admit, I came into this film with LOW expectations beyond a fun way to be jaded about the holiday. I WAS DEAD WRONG !!! This film is just outright silly fun. The plot wasn't what I thought it would be, and there are plenty of holes in it. I watched it on Peacock, so I could skip through the genuinely treacly/preachy/yawn parts. This film gets only 4 stars for the somewhat rambly/sophomoric dialogue, one-dimensional villains, dull acting by most of the supporting cast, and the truly unnecessary "Home Alone" parts (though I did enjoy the more realistic violent toll of the scenes). Otherwise, it's a gory, silly, and GREAT new Xmas cult classic !!! David Harbour and Leah Brady are the best actors here and totally sell it. I did want more of Santa's backstory (hints of the Viking lore are all we get) and for the "kill squad" to actually execute like the elite military squad they were hyped to be. Just watch it (on-demand/streaming so you fast-forward through the meh parts) and enjoy the ride! Already voting for a sequel...Violent Night: Krampus Wants In!
