Although the series does many things very well, historical accuracy is not one of them but most importantly what is even more striking is how the series attempts to depict the Germans as the cliche "Noble Savages" and the Romans as treacherous, brutal and dishonorable. It's clearly obvious that real history doesn't work this way and the moral of the story of this series is a polemical one and one of German ethnic pride with inserts of modern leftwing ideology. I think these features really cheapens the story and misrepresents what it truly was most likely like at that time. Despite this, it is still enjoyable to watch for the great cinematics, combat scenes and Latin and German dialogues.
