Norman Mazlin (scroll down for his remarkably off-key review) should bone up on his history and apologise. There was a Boer War in 1881, obviously the one referred to in this fine film. This is an intriguing, almost mesmerising piece of work, deserving of high praise - beautifully written, acted and shot. Desperately sad circumstances are portrayed with extraordinary sensitivity.
