Truly awful. I’ve read the books and enjoyed them. This movie has no plot. It shows none of the story points of the book, which means the movie itself makes literally no sense. The toxic relationship is there but that’s literally all that is recognisable from the book. Smith is way older. Every character has changed actors. Most of the book characters that make a cameo in this movie don’t get any character development or screen time to make a valuable addition to the plot. 90% of the book characters aren’t even mentioned. Honestly I’ve never written a review on a movie before, but I felt compelled to, given how truly awful this movie was. The actors did their best with what they had, and should be commended on their abilities, as their acting talents were the only thing going for this film. And the ending? It felt like the director got bored one day and went “that’ll do folks. CUT”. Really really bad. I can’t think of a single reason to watch this movie. I’ve just wasted and hour and a half of my life. Don’t be like me.
