The first episode writing feels so lazy and easy to guess, it makes it hard for me to be interested enough to watch more. Everything plot-wise was guessable and some things didn't make sense. The Kaiju invades and stomps everyone to death? But a previous scene showed people alive and fleeing. Did it hunt everyone down? Pretty sure people would have some hidey holes that Kaiju wouldn't notice, especially since they were all survivors of other attacks. Wouldn't make sense to have everything in the open like that - wouldn't people have carved homes out of the mountains in five years time.. it seems safer. They don't seem to want to eat people - what business do they have stomping them? Only reason everyone dies is to give the lead characters a reason to leave. Also the writing feels so much like Voltron/Avatar Korra/Dragon Prince/She-Ra - all the characters feel the SAME. Just given a new skin and shoved off into this show. Generic - no reason to care about them.
