(HEAVY spoliers ahead)
I feel like sometimes movies are good, except their plotlines are kind of basic. To be honest this has a pretty basic story; lowerclass guy goes on an adventure to save the world except turns out the great propaganda pumping leader was actually lying this whole time!1! And so the main character and his friends go and bring justice. Then Megatron kind of appears and then leaves.
Now if that was the entire movie, of course I'll dock all the stars when I'm reviewing. But there are a few upsides to this film, like the quality of the animation. i swear the animation is just so clean, to the point that I'm worried that the animators are getting the MAPPA treatment just for this sheer quality. The animation during the fight scenes are just beautiful in that how everything flows together.
I read through a few of the reviews and some of them said how the humour was cringe. "Badassatron" is definitely cringeworthy, but a lot of the humour isn't actually that bad. Orion Pax in the beginning pretending to transform, only to just run is peak humour.
Finally, Megatron. If I was in his shoes, I would commit more than enough war crimes to make the courtroom gladly sentence me to execution by firing squad. His anger is understandable, ripping Sentinal in half is understandable, dropping Orion was also understandable, but only for him. It only takes a few braincells to know that murder is bad (woah really?), so he is a villain, but a hero in his own story.
Now the plotline would have docked half a star, so why is a whole star. One, google doesn't allow half a star.
Two, because another half was docked for this being a blatant communist manifesto (kidding, it was google)
TLDR, good movie, recommend watching.
