Yeah ok…I’m a huge Pokémon fan and I’m usually able to enjoy the games despite their downfalls…so this is unfortunate. First and foremost, I think the games biggest drawback is that every time I boot it up, all I want to do is go back and play Legends Arceus. Not to say that Legends was perfect, because it definitely wasn’t, but it was still a much more refreshing and innovative game than SV by a long shot. Battles have been transported back to the old rigid structure they always had with very little animation. All the cities feel pretty empty honestly. I really couldn’t bring myself to get into the whole restaurant gimmick. The new pokemon are very hit or miss. I love the new starters, clodsire and tinkaton but the rest feel like they lack creativity. Some of them just genuinely look like fakemon. I completely understand that opinion is subjective though. I tried out the classes to see if they had something to offer. Just felt like a waste of time.. The textures look worse than the previous games. How can you release a game that’s technically worse than it’s predecessors :( I could honestly overlook the terrible textures and the lag. I could overlook a lot of the issues if the game was more fleshed out and battles were more fluid and fast paced like they felt in legends. I had so much fun playing legends, and had such high hopes that SV would be even better but it just isn’t.

This game made me sob uncontrollably. Such a beautiful game to experience. 10/10

The most fun I’ve had from a Pokemon game in 13 years. I can barely put it down. However, here’s where I feel the game falls short: 1. The graphics could have been a bit better 2. Too much repetitive dialogue 3. There should be a way to organize the pastures 4. Having to go back to town every time you want to go to a new area gets kinda old 5. I love that trainer battles don’t feel like a monotonous grind anymore, but a bit more would be nice. I also miss pvp battles. 6. I would looove to see more exploration opportunities in future games. The cave systems seem too sparse. Despite all that, the game still feels like a breath of fresh air. Catching Pokémon is a blast. The new battle system feels so fluid. Battles in general are a lot more fast paced. The open world concept is something I’ve always wanted from a mainline Pokémon game. Even collecting resources is pretty fun. There’ll always be people that prefer the old formula but I’m really excited for this new direction the series is taking.
