Just for the record: I have apple tv on a free trial from my recent phone upgrade, and I'm not going to purchase the service:
And also for the record: watch whatever you want, but when I start feeling uncomfortable with a tv show, I generally turn it off and stop spending my time watching anymore.
I only watched 3 episodes of Stick and I turned it off.
And for those who are wondering, the storyline seems solid, and even though this show is coming out this late in 2025, it seems to be painfully foreshadowed by the typical Disney-Style wokeness which makes the content practically unwatchable.
It's supposed to be a show about golf: well there isn't much golf in the first 3 episodes, and I have researched ahead to find out the same is true for future episodes; should one choose to watch them.
It's supposed to be a show about a washed up pro golfer coaching a teenage prodigy to success in golf. Well, unfortunately this is far from the main storyline thus far.
Owen Wilson is Owen Wilson, so this is not on him as he is a hired actor to play a part in this production.
But the production...
It seems like a well written plot and story idea, but the show is clearly published with inequality and racial political agendas in mind making the show unrelatable and insufferable due to blatant foreshadowing driven by in-your-face political issues in society.
Honestly, the only positive thing I have to say about this show is that they properly classified the rating as TV-MA. This show needs to be filtered at the highest level of censorship because it is just ridiculous.
The political agenda completely foreshadows any sort of well written storyline or plot elements, and immediately becomes a lesson on hot topics such as: Absent-father syndrome; misogynistic road blocks for women pursuing professional financial advancement: confusing gender-identity scenario... just to name a few.
Apple TV clearly wishes to push a burden of navigating these personal and politically charged and 'woke' topics off to the viewership of their content. (by the way, the actress that plays Zero is a female, I looked it up)
Like I said, I only watched 3 episodes... but production should be looping their shows back to some sort of relatable and watchable content well before that if it is to be worthy of being called non-woke.
This is easily averted and solved cancelling or not subscribing to Apple TV services.
