Honestly, i was so excited to see this movie. It has Keke Palmer who I grew up watching and it's directed by Jordan Peele (I've loved every movie from Jordan Peele up until now). This movie thoroughly disappointed me.
I love psychological horrors. Even ones that don't make quite sense, I still can realize the truer meaning and i think of those as masterpieces. However, this movie was not that.
It starts off real slow. At least it includes some light humor from Keke Palmer to keep it entertaining. It cuts to a rather intense flashback ("Gordy Flashback") that i actually found to be the best and most interesting part of the movie. But it made NO sense to me. I have done research to really understand why it was included but I still can't grasp it. The movie is about an alien threatening human lives, not about an animal.
The inclusion of the character Ricky from Jupiter claim made the entire plot blurry for me. It links together towards the end but not in a way that lived up to the climax of the movie at all. There wasn't a "plot twist" or an "ah-hah!" moment. It didn't blend well.
The actress Keke Palmer was AMAZING- and so was every other actor as well. It was just the storyline and plot that deserved a 1 star rating in my opinion.
If you want to watch a movie that is a little boring, nor really scary, makes you more confused every minute, and leaves you with no sort of climatic relief at the end of it- this movie is for you.
