Virus- a well crafted, gripping medical thriller -with fictional presentation of the events followed by the outbreak of dreaded virus NIPAH at Kozhikode, during May 2018. The film amply portrays the magnitude of the problem, if not tackled in a skilful manner could have resulted as a major calamity. The movie also gives us the confidence that all of us live in a society where there are sincere and dedicated members in the administrative system who are willing to go to any length to tackle a crisis situation which could crop up anytime in our lives. Hearty congratulations the director- producer Asique Abu for this well crafted multi starrer movie. The exceptional acting by Sreenath Bhasi, as a junior resident in the causality department and Parvathy as a medical officer of community medicine, reminds us of the magnitude of the stress and challenges faced by medical professionals in the governmental system. A lot of credit to the success of the film goes to the skillful script writing by Mushin Parari which raised the scope of the film to that of a medical science fiction from the level of a documentary. Perhaps in no other language it is possible to bring-in so many top rated actors to tell a story. Rajiv Ravi’s non-flashy and un-obtrusive camera work is spectacular. Sushi Shyam’s background music is beautiful, though it didn’t gel with the situation at times. A “must- watch” film!
