As impressive an orator as Chomsky has been (though nobody would describe him as a man of few words), Manufacturing Consent was both acutely insightful……….and a real challenge. I think these two authors must have attended the Herman Melville school of loquacious literature! It is however a whale of a book! On a positive note, I believe they really hit the nail on the head. We are certainly propagandized to the extreme……and unbiased fact-based reporting is a rare commodity these days. The amount of influence government, business, the super-rich, and advertising share in shaping news, media and entertainment messaging we all receive continuously is pure mind control at its scariest! The scariest thing is…..we all know we’re being manipulated and we aren’t lifting a finger to change it. This book was published in I believe 2002. I can only imagine the extra chapters this book would require to cover the propagandistic media / entertainment machinery of the past 20 years…..from all sides!
