I think the author did a very good job explaining the perspective and struggles of Mexicans back then and today too. People say that this book is racist, but it’s rly not. (I’m not gonna go into why it’s not racist cuz I just don’t want to tho) i personally don’t like this book just because I prefer horror and suspense and I had to do a stupid project about it, but this book is rly good nonetheless! It shows how Esperanza goes from a spoiled brat to a caring person in around like what, a year or so? I would say this is definitely a must-read
