I don't know anything about this before it showed up on Netflix today. Just finished the series, and I'll say that I liked it. I'm sure it's missing so much as people say, but I'm a simple person.

Besides a number of things everyone pointed out. Wanted to say that it is true that someone that lost their hearing later in life may actually do more of talking than signing, especially if no one else is affected by hearing. I've personal experience with several of my classmates doing so and I graduated from a deaf school ('93) and am hard of hearing with the ability to understand when spoken to. My reunion with them last year... they hadn't changed still.
