This is required reading for any person who cares for the physical, emotional, and/or spiritual health of others. Doesn’t matter what stage your practice is in - you could be just starting out or have a thriving practice and this book will help you wrap your head and your heart around the work you do, who you do it with, and why you do it. It’ll corroborate things you’re already doing and make you thoughtfully reflect on other things that you are/aren’t doing for the wrong reasons. For context I’m an acupuncturist and integrative medicine practitioner with a sustainable private practice (meaning I’m not currently struggling to fill my practice and in fact have hired to expand access to care) and I found this book so immensely helpful in framing what I’m doing in alignment and what I’m doing that’s out of alignment with my purpose, intention, and life goals. I’m personally uncomfortable with the term ‘healer’ (which I’ve been exploring thanks to Laura through this book) so the fact that I’m promoting a book that has that in almost every other sentence means the book was that powerful! I devoured it in about 4 hours spread out over a (busy) week. I will be rereading this book yearly to help my practice stay sustainable and in alignment with its greater purpose.
