As a huge fan of the musical I felt the film was missing the soul of the original Broadway show. It is beautiful to watch and Anthony Ramos is very good as Usnavi. The 2 leading ladies just didn't reach the heights and depths of emotions needed to play Nina and Vanessa. Gorgeous to look at but lacking the wide range of human emotion expressed in the musical numbers. It was disappointing for me and I left the theatre feeling somewhat deflated. The storyline was missing some iconic songs and characters needed to move forward as in Nina's mum and also the intimate number between Benny and Nina. A beautiful song just abandoned.
