I have gone back and forth on this game. I really wanted to love it, but I just wasn’t feeling it. Imagine a Red Dead Redemption 2 kind of game but Star Wars. Blasters, not lightsabers. It’s huge, but it doesn’t give you all of the answers, you’ll have to search. There are usually multiple paths, some easier than others, but is it first floor or third?…hard to tell. What’s next in the mission that you need to do? Sometimes it just says sneak into a place, but when you do it seems like you need to get a ways in before it gives you more, that’s SUPER frustrating when you’re in hostile territory and keep getting arrested or killed as you try to figure out what to do. It also gives a lot of tools and modules, and some are very necessary to get into certain areas, but it doesn’t do much to help you with that. Okay, that’s the frustrating part. You can shoot a lot of things, but the rewards for that are nonexistent unless it’s part of a quest or you happen to get a grenade or bacta vial, that seems really wasteful. I mean, you need leather, but if you shoot that creature you don’t get leather or hides or anything, I think that annoys a lot of people.
Now, after that, if you can get far enough in to get some tools and start to figure out what you’re doing, it really got fun for me. I love exploring and you can explore multiple planets, ride a speeder, fly a ship, search for loot inside of caves and nebulas. You fight pirates, and robbed Imperial stations. I think if you’re a gamer that is comparing it to other games and therefore have expectations such as hunting or trying to just get to endgame as quick as possible, you might not love this game. If you’re a Star Wars fan though (not a Jedi/Sith fan), then this game does a ton right. You can get completely lost and caught up in raising reputation with the criminal syndicates, or explore the world, fight pirates, accumulate wealth, unlock tons of outfits and gear pieces, etc. It seems like this game has not been well received, and I honestly think it’s because it’s not easy. If you hate a challenge then I’m sure you wouldn’t like this, but pretty much everyone else need to let the story develop a bit and I think way more people would be into it.
