I loved this movie. I was worried it was going to be another “Mulan,” or “Little Mermaid,” live action botch. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The movie was everything my wife and I loved about the original and more. The animation was gorgeous and done well, and the characters (except for Ruffnut) were done well and were akin to their animated counterparts. I think some people get annoyed because they think the film lacks novelty. However, I don’t see that as valid, or at the very least I don’t think that’s how the majority of fans feel. Many of us love the original animated movies and appreciate the story for what it is, so it only makes sense for you to not veer too far off course with the script so as to not ruin a movie that was already successful for a reason! I for one, always wondered what this movie would look like in live-action form, and I was not disappointed by this rendition of the film. It stands as an archetype of what live-action remakes ought to be. (Especially contrasted to dumpster fires like Mulan, and the little mermaid) I am so excited for number two to drop, and I will definitely be seeing it in theaters.
