... I'm gonna be honest. I Don't see why "The Bird Box" its getting so much attention. Actress Sandra Bullock is awesome as Mallory & there was a good concept here for a good horror film but they go nowhere with it at all. The whole time i was hoping & saying "there's gotta be a good pay off here! We gotta see the monster or have some big climax for all this build up..." and nothing. no questions answered. no climax. it just kinda ends on this bittersweet note. I will give credit where it's due, It has some suspenseful moments upon build up with the trying to survive speech's and the crew trying to make sense of the danger.
However at no point is the monster's existence questioned or explored nor are there enough trials for our lead characters. More then half the film is dedicated to backstory through flashbacks explaining how our characters got where they are, which realistically takes away from present day predicament which isn't very climactic.
Some hipsters i'm sure would call that breaking the norm or being truly shocking by not knowing. But we've seen that kind of b.s many times and i'm tired of the anticlimactic film where we are trying to be more artsy and visionary which frankly i'm starting to think is just an excuse to dismiss the fact that a bad movie was made.
