Imagine Edward Furlong's version of an young, angsty John Connor from Terminator 2, then dump him into a nearly identical origin plot device from The Magicians. I'm really not sure if this is even meant to be a parody or not, the parallels are all made in the first few episodes. The cast is great, but the writing and direction of this show is rather hamfisted which doesn't even hold it's own plot otherwise.
