I picked up The Great Gatsby on the condition I would get into reading Classics again. Since then I never really got around to finish reading it for about five months. But just last night I finished it. What I can tell the reader expecting no spoilers in this review, (trying my best to keep this review spoiler free,) is expect a blend of emotional dynamics from a stubborn opponent attemtping to steal the love of a man's woman. The triad dynamic, mixed in with Carraway's admiration for Gatsby is intentionally done great. It's sort of pathetic, the character, Gatsby, but we are shown he was just an afraid man. I think this deserves a good 4 stars, if not 3.8. I say this mainly because i review caustically. The Great Gatsby was an enjoyable read. It's not too hard to grasp the language but expect slang used from the roaring twenties. Nick Carraway, the narator, is a dependable and deep character.

I found this thriller novel a great addition to my collection of books that ruminate in my mind. As a writer, i am aware of the particularities we go through when writing our first novel or latest one, probably being our third. This felt to me a first novel by Jeneva Rose. It started off mundane, mostly having characters stand, sit, drink coffee, but the maturity of the plot and writing style improves over time to the point i believed she may have set this work in progress aside, and picked it up to revise it as a much better, smarter writer. I really enjoyed this novel and hope Jeneva continues to write compelling novels such as this one.

I’ll give it a 3.7 like most have. The story starts in a way that piques the interest. It slowly introduces more elements that intertwine to build up to the ending of the plot. I may be exempt from criticism by saying the following, but I think when Frankenstein’s monster had killed Victor’s Wife, the reveal was sudden and grating. So, !!!!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! It was a slog to read towards the ending but that may be due to personal reasons. However, I must admit it almost lived up to the hype a classic demands. It was about to hit the threshold of a slightly better than good novel for me.

Although I'm not done reading the book, I do have something to say. The author writes well enough to maintain concentration throughout the book. We jump from superstitions, starting from the natural order to the middle topics, ceremonies and rituals, and a few more topics interspersed between the former and later--and finally ending with superstitions relating to the consumption of foods. The stories are broken down in small paragraphs that helps in concentrating on each story. Overall, this was the right book to pick out from my B&N. The cover caught my eye, and because of my interests in the supernatural, it spurred me to read more into it until I picked it up heading homebound. A 3 out of 5.
