(My opinion)
I grew up watching Tyler Perry grow his Civic stage plays into worldwide screen movies. He is very talented & hilarious, but also very serious about his work & message.
Whether people like him or not, I admit that he is definitely a great writer, director, actor, comedian, business man, & now he's a father.
Tyler Perry could have chosen any woman to play the character of Mea Culpa & I'm glad he chose Kelly Rowland because she needed to continue to show the world that she's more than a singer from Destiny's Child's. She can look & act like a lawyer who's main mission was to save her clients life, while in the mean time, she lost her husband & her whole family through marriage showed their true colors. This movie is extremely thought provoking. It makes a wife wonder, how well does she know her husband & his family?
I believe Tyler Perry was trying to portray a very realistic person because honestly he showed the cause & effect of infidelity, regret, a spouse who is making money vs. a spouse who is not making money, a spouse who has family support vs. a spouse who is away from family or doesn't have biological family nearby, the racial stimulus of a man who sleeps with both a white or black woman, the art form of creativity & memory, the emotional struggles between being faithful or loyal after assuming the worse or while given false information from outside sources of a marriage. Mea only cheated after she received confirmed information from her trusted detective, yet unfortunately that information was incorrect, or was it? It was confirmed that the her husband was at a hotel to see his mother who was battling cancer, and she felt guilt & regret that she slept with her client who was ultimately being purposely framed by Mea's own brother-in-law who was also running for a political position. Watching this film, made me wonder about how well do I know a married spouse, a lawyer, a politician, a mother-in-law, a sister-in-law, a professional detective who was incorrect for once, an artist, or Tyler Perry? The fact that he can create each character, & bring them to life on screen while teaching a valuable lesson is a talent that's not just taught, it's natural for him to be able to execute his way for a logical reason. He has a visual of what he choose to display while using his platform & stage. This movie has family support & drama, love & war, twists & turns, life & death, faithfulness & infidelity, truth & lies, African American & European culture, Career & Unemployment, Strength & Emotional Hurt. Ups & Downs. There was a lot of paint. ๐คฃSome audience were probably taking a few notes like,"How to cuddle with paint?" ๐๐จ Tyler Perry is a true successful play write artist. I think that's what he's pretty much telling the world. He was once poor, & now he's wealthy. Mea Culpa was played very well by Kelly Rowland. Although, she's happily married in reality, she still brought this character to life as if she really is capable to win her case even at the cost of unfortunately losing her family-in-law. The male characters definitely played their parts very well, especially Mea's husband because he made me believe that he is definitely a momma's boy. Lol ๐คฃ
