The show has high animation budget but very low story budget. The story isn't interesting and follows a typical, "enemy attacks me but spares me and I get stronger" then "the enemy attacks or fights me again but I kill them!" . It's nothing interesting nor exciting to watch. Very predictable story line and very dark for some reason. In addition, the author makes one of the female character very likeable and cute, but kills her in the worst way possible and treats her in the worst way possible. General rule of anime is, you don't treat cute girls that you made the viewers like, in a terrible way. The anime seemed to have gotten a lot of hype but most people like the animation and overrates it.
