Visionary Alex Garland has certainly come good again! The whole series of Devs has just appeared on iPlayer, so I took the liberty of binge watching over the last two days. It's really quite astonishing stuff and a must for those who like their sci-fi on the exestential side! Fantastic use of visuals and music, with some great performances, it reminded me very superficially of Christopher Nolan's Inception but it has more than enough ideas of its own and has a warmth and heart lacking from a lot of Nolan's output with his more sterile approach, coming off at times like a humanistic Stanley Kubrick. There's a really compelling thriller plot and Garland plays a satisfying long game, keeping up the momentum even when exploring the heady subjects of quantum physics and self determination! Not to be missed!
