Alec Marr

I thought it looked good, especially the city and factory scenes. Although they were very stagey they evoked the closeness of city living in Victorian times. Many of the individual performances and subplots were interesting as short sketches but there was little by way of continuity of theme. I did wonder how whether most of the cast just flitted in for a couple of days filming, took their cheque, and then went off. Was this what added to the episodic feel? Overall it was disappointing given the amount of critical support. It's Film4 so I wish I'd just waited for it to be broadcast.
