I am usually one to scroll and read through reviews rather than write one, but I felt the need to share with others my thoughts on this wonderful story.
It’s quite crazy how underrated this novel is. I love it. I first listened to it on audible on long car rides, then, my grandmother read it aloud to me before I fell asleep, and now I have read it myself and would read it again and again. This book has some personal nostalgia for me that will always make it feel a little more special, but even without all that, it is truly an extraordinary story. The way the author describes how music is used to persist through troubling times is beautiful. Pam Muñoz Ryan connects 4 different characters and lives quite stunningly. Additionally, it has a very satisfying ending that ties everything together.
It is not a romance, or fast paced action novel, or a gripping thriller, but it is a divine story that is perfect for reading aloud or if you want something light hearted to read.
