If you love the raw, Savage, and unmitigated bleakness of the first 2 films, I would maybe advise to let the films remain as 28 days and 28 weeks later.... don't go down the 28 years rabbit hole.
There is just a massive disconnect in the story for me. As someone who loved the first 2, this one left me feeling like I didn't even really know what I watched. It lurches from some pretty fantastic shots of a decaying United Kingdom, to what can only be called slapstick, almost cartoonish scenes, with characters that seem to draw from old kung fu movies crossed with the band Goldie looking chain. It was truly bizarre.
Aside from this, some of the choices the main characters make, honestly don't make sense. They are decisions made purely to progress some loose storyline that I honestly could not tell you what it is trying to say.
The ideas of the Alpha I think is interesting, but I can help but think during the casting of these roles, they just want to large males.... anatomical speaking lol.
Overall just lacked the emotional attachment you get concerning the first 2. I didn't care about spike, or his mother. I didn't care about Eric the Viking. And I certainly did not care for the Goldie Looking Ninjas at the end of the film
