An absolute disgrace of a film that exploits the culture its about with star-studded fetishization of poverty. It presents a tired "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" message to the oppressed. Ugly, gross, and shameful. The likes of Adams, Howard, and Close should focus on projects that suit their artistic caliber, not give into the guise of feel-good schlock that masks a truly out-of-touch and hateful message. Stories about Appalachia, drugs, and poverty would be better told by the culture who lived and lives it everyday instead of distant, greedy Hollywood.
