The lack of the character depth of Oppenheimer fail to fully explore the psychological complexities and motivations of the real Oppenheimer, as with other characters in the film - considering their massive significance that they knew about. Nothing against the acting, but the writing/screenplay missed a lot there.
There are loads of historical inaccuracies when they are creating a true story, so it’s like a documentary that’s been adapted. If a film deviates from the facts it can undermine the authenticity and credibility of the story and what’s actually happened.
A film about Oppenheimer's life and work requires a strong narrative to effectively convey his story. This was unclear and felt disjointed. It just felt off.
The pacing of the film felt uncomfortable and inaccurate,(maybe due to time constraints as it was shot in 60 days) - but shoot for 100 days instead? They had the budget. This has been picked up by critics too - If the film rushes through critical events and doesn’t allow pivotal moments to take in moments, it will lower the emotional impact in regards to the story. - which is the main purpose of film-making.
Finally I felt the supporting characters weren’t explored at all or to the extent they should of been, okay the name is ‘Oppenheimer’. That doesn’t mean take away from those pivotal to this story of a Government Project.
