This is the best recreation of the Gospel narratives anywhere on any screen. The writers have brilliantly embedded texts from Scripture into logical and creative dialogue between characters and for the contexts of Jesus's teaching and miracles. Characters are so appropriately played; personalities are strong. The Jewish religious and cultural context of 1st century Gallilee/Judea was strictly observed and the settings for scenes in homes and synagogues were carefully constructed and with much detail. The actor who plays Jesus is so believable as is the one playing Nicodemus. One strong criticism is the desire to put accents on American actors in order for them to sound more appropriate to the context. This is unfortunate because they often sound ingenuous and inconsistent, and do not sound very Jewish/Israeli. It is better to have left a slight sense of dialect as was done with Simon and Nicodemus. The rest made it more confusing and harder to hear. Excellent series nontheless and incredibly smart.
