I was captivated by the Ed Gein storyline in Monster: The Ed Gein Storyโit was thrilling, well-paced, and so graphic and disturbing it was hard to look away, earning a 10/10 for those elements alone. The creative liberties taken with unconfirmed details added intrigue and kept the narrative gripping. However, the inclusion of numerous scenes depicting graphic sexual content and personal dramas involving characters unrelated to the main plot completely derailed the series for me. For example, scenes showing explicit sexual encounters, such as one involving a transgender character or another depicting a man engaging in unrelated personal behavior, felt random and disconnected from Ed Geinโs story. These moments disrupted the immersion and detracted from the otherwise compelling narrative. If a show like Stranger Things inserted random, unrelated scenes of characters engaging in irrelevant activities, it would feel equally jarring and diminish the experience. Without this distracting content, the series would be near-perfect. Instead, these scenes turned a potential 10/10 series into a 1/10 for me. I canโt recommend it to others, as the inclusion of graphic, irrelevant content alienates viewers expecting a focused Ed Gein story.
