The screen centralization when you select a unit is just one of the faults that make this game almost unplayable. It is potentially great, but let down by very bad programming decisions.
The lack of screen scroll when gibing directional orders is frustrating. The one button control which can't tell the difference between movement and line direction is anger inducing, when you want to turn a unit and not send it marching the opposite direction. Grrrrr. A potentially great game, but poor execution.
