The best coming-of-age movie I have ever seen in my life - yes, that is very high praise I know, but itโs the truth. And yes, still highly effective and amazing as a horror movie, but it is so much more. I go to a horror movie to be terrified and/or unsettled, and to say that this one delivers the goods in those departments is an understatement. This movie was deep, which I did not expect, but yet in being profound it is never lofty or pretentious and at the same time it is also able to thrill and to horrifyโฆ it is a meditation on life and death, but especially death, and the way these themes are explored was both unexpected and amazing. I didnโt think I could love Ralph Fiennes even more, but along came this movie. There is A LOT within this movie that ties in directly with mythology, and in some ways it is a throwback to the Greek myths themselves. To say more would be too revealing. So glad I caught it on the big screen, and cannot wait to see it again; and it goes without saying that I cannot wait for parts two and threeโฆ a fantastic, scary, moving and epic rollercoaster ride, which only leaves you wanting more.
