Disappointed, whatever wonderful things that Gundam Unicorn built over its few episodes, this movie flushed it all down the toilet.
Biggest problem with it is the lack of originality. Whether itโs character, plot or Mecha design nothing new was introduced, the Phenex gundam is easily the ugliest unit of the three, Narrative looks like bunch of old gundams forced together like some sad Frankenstein experiment. (Gundam SEED called, they want their meteor system back). The villain is pathetic, deranged unstable maniac are not final boss material, give us the strong cool headed calculating strategists like Char or Ribbons.
One of the things I love about Gundam Unicorn is itโs musics, the heroic melodies move its audience from the launch to end of battle is what made it great, there is no sort of that in this movie. Iโm only glad that they didnโt make this into a 50 episodes run or a mini series, this movie is the Seed Destiny of Gundam Unicorn. If youโre new to Gundam this movie is like a sampling platter of many old gundam franchises, but if youโre a Unicorn fan, do yourself a favor; read the plot and watch its fight scene on YouTube, keep your expectation low.
P.S. I strongly recommend Iron Blood Orphans for gundam fans who havenโt seen it yet.
