It was well written and well directed. The acting was superb.
I was angry that both of the African American women had men and children that were incarcerated and on drugs. Also, the African American women werenโt married. It pissed me off that Lydiaโs babysitter said she could make more money if she were on welfare. That comment reinforces the myth of the African American mother โexploiting โ the system. That sort of comment is dangerous. Iโm disappointed that an African American man would write into a film.
The whyte womanโs husbandโs flaws were never revealed. They didnโt have any visible problems. In my opinion I think that played into typical, negative racist stereotypes.
