Loved it. My favorite song in the movie was Rastaman Chant. Nyabinghi drumming at its finest. The locs, voice of the actor, the writing and acting was superb. It needs about 45 more minutes to flush out the story. It felt a bit rushed. But it is absolutely worth seeing in the theatres!

It was well written and well directed. The acting was superb. I was angry that both of the African American women had men and children that were incarcerated and on drugs. Also, the African American women weren’t married. It pissed me off that Lydia’s babysitter said she could make more money if she were on welfare. That comment reinforces the myth of the African American mother “exploiting “ the system. That sort of comment is dangerous. I’m disappointed that an African American man would write into a film. The whyte woman’s husband’s flaws were never revealed. They didn’t have any visible problems. In my opinion I think that played into typical, negative racist stereotypes.

Good acting. Suspenseful writing. I loved how it was told POV of a millennial using all of the technology. The acting was great. Overall it was good. It held my attention. I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning. I do think how quickly she made connections and found stuff out was a bit unrealistic. I also think it was unrealistic when Nia Long stabbed him in the neck and he didn’t die instantly. It was also unrealistic that Nia Long was holding a chunk of glass to stab him and there wasn’t ANY blood on her hand. The mom’s reaction to the daughter talking back was culturally unrealistic. It wasn’t written by African Americans. It was written by Europeans and it shows. An African American mom would have put the child in her place. Who was the other woman of color at the end that popped up on the screen for just a minute?
