It was well written and well directed. The acting was superb.
I was angry that both of the African American women had men and children that were incarcerated and on drugs. Also, the African American women weren’t married. It pissed me off that Lydia’s babysitter said she could make more money if she were on welfare. That comment reinforces the myth of the African American mother “exploiting “ the system. That sort of comment is dangerous. I’m disappointed that an African American man would write into a film.
The whyte woman’s husband’s flaws were never revealed. They didn’t have any visible problems. In my opinion I think that played into typical, negative racist stereotypes.
