Binged this over the holiday. At first I thought it was just Ozark lite but made for an older conservative audience. Which is true in some regards but there's some fun to be had as well as an interesting story behind everything. If they focused more on Native Americans and their storylines they would be writing a much better show. Beth's a little over the top. If they showed the realistic toll that much drinking would take on a person we'd have a completely different show. The way they portrayed the animal rights activist was cringe-worthy. It's like they took your oldest, most miserable Aunt's facebook posts and brought them to life. They're misguided, childish, and hateful. They pick and choose what stereotypes they want to entertain. Jaime and Beth's relationship is so confusing. Beth is an abusive trainwreck who somehow just waltz's in and assaults whoever she wants, whenever she wants. Jaime is apparently an evil person? John is a great character. If not stoic and dated, he's a good patriarch type. The main flaw of this series is the takeaway that their is any realism in this. i don't know why so many hollywood actors get old and make western style-martyr stories like this. I guess it's just the culture. In reality, the world would still have good people in it without cowboys.
