I hold a double major in Journalism and Political Science, so the first 100 pages of the book were a re-hash of what many of us already know to be the problems in our political system. The book however, gets very concrete (and helpful) from there forward. It is a book that should be distributed to every politician in the USA.
Every angry American trying to find who they can support (i.e. Obama thru to Trump both seen for possible change) should instead be looking at the Politics industry and the money that goes into it. in the 2016 election it was $16 BILLION. In this Covid 19 time, the Georgia Senate Race alone, Candidates raised $200 Million for Democrats and $120 Million for Republicans (approximate, final tallies not yet released on how much was spent). All Corporations, law firms, and other supporters of the Industry that thrives from doing old things over and over needs to take stock and STOP feeding the beast. Think of what that money can do for the average American family and small business. All big business needs to do is pull that money out of this Politics Industry and put it into programs that support giving employees and families better wages, training, healthcare. Supporting innovation in our food systems would make our people healthier and lower the cost of healthcare. Yes we can, if we STOP supporting the Industry we call Politics and stop our allegiance to Party over those (Republican, Independent or Democrat) who can innovate. We keep talking about how divided we are as a country, but there are a lot more average Americans who are closer in their views than the political machines support.
