This film was absolutely amazing. The one star reviews it seems come from from people who went into this film expecting a medieval fantasy movie. This movie is an art film that takes place in a medieval fantasy setting.
In a lot of ways this movie reminded me A LOT of Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man. The dialog is sparse but extremely intentional. The symbolism in each shot tells most of the story. This film assumes that the viewer is intelligent, and relies heavily on the story telling practice of "show, don't tell".
If you want a new LOTR this isn't it. I'd reccomend Wheel of Time or The Witcher if thats what you're after. If you want to see a beautiful work of art though, then you won't be sorry with this pick.
