I thoroughly enjoyed this game. I usually donโt post reviews but this game was wonderful. Iโve followed it since I saw it in development on TikTok and only just saw it in the game pass. I played this late at night in a couple sessions and next to the pleasing and playful graphics, fresh and unique mechanics, and satisfying level design, this game was very well mapped out. I completed it on 100% (I like doing that with these games) and if you do that the game will make complete sense. I saw a review saying the ending felt hollow but I donโt think so.
Spoilers ahead!
At the end you choose not to get to your people on the other side of the light and instead stay with you companion. Someone complained that this was unsatisfying but I understood it completely. The game tells you to get to the portal but the messages left behind tell of a people who took their world for advantage and shouldโve appreciated what they were leaving behind because it was beautiful. Along the way you have the option to interact with this companion in cute manners such as head pats, holding, and playing, this little one even helps you when you get stuck on the puzzles if you lay close attention. All of these things allowed for a connection to be formed (the best possible with no action or dialogue) and honestly made me sad when I thought the main character was gonna leave him behind. The change at the end felt just as you, the main character, realize that there is more to the world your people left behind was perfect. The beauty and light they sought was right in front of them.
I really enjoyed this simple indie puzzle game because it felt fresh and wholesome and satisfying. Would definitely recommend if someone wanted a calm yet captivating game. Rant over :)
