This could have been a much more interesting film. It starts by being about a man's obsessive dedication to his craft coupled with a dark past, but later devolves into an utterly mundane crime drama that has absolutely nothing to do with the comparatively well-formed first 30 minutes. The ending feels incredibly rushed, and none of the antagonists are credible.
It gets 3 stars instead of 2 because it had the seed (haha) of a much better film in the first part.
