Definitely not the typical spy-genre that you're accustomed to with the Bonds and MI franchises, to me this actually skews more towards the depiction of a marriage in reality, with sprinkles of realism & authenticity all over the series.
We follow the journey of John and Jane, from the two being cash-strapped and slowly making their fortune with every accomplished missions — reflecting how each of the two working with each other in the marriage. There are respect between the two, understanding that each has their strengths.
As the two slowly make a good fortune (evidenced with John wearing a Patek while meeting the therapist) the power balance in the marriage slowly shifted as couples tend to. Cracks begin to show, with Jane forgetting when John, early in the relationship together, showing Jane the ropes due to John's ex-Marine experience. She begins to feel deflated with self-importance especially after suggestions of being highly regarded by Hihi (the boss) and seeing John "changed" in the altecations with Toby.
Also, love the format of the presentation, switching it up every now and then and never in linear. Unique nonetheless, albeit becoming a slow burn most of the time.
