This book is so important for our time. It's about the collapse of a democratic society, and how that affects individuals. It's about the crossing of moral boundaries we take for granted every day, resulting in loss of liberties, people disappearing, torture, beaurocratical gaslighting, being alone. It's disturbing on so many levels because it's entirely believable.
