It was not able to provide the right visuals, soundtrack and acting tone in situations that required a heavier weight. For instance the scene when the Drunn are attacking Fang we only see them for a bit and are instead forced to watch Raya and Namari fight for what felt the 10th time. Why couldn't we have gotten a good shot of the Drunn destroying the castle as they fight. It could have been a moment where both of them could have realized they were going to die but kept on fighting because of their hatred which would have made the end a little better.
They almost saved the whole movie with the scene where the Raya and her friends finally learn to trust Namari and give her the stones. I thought she was going to have to make a break for it and let the main character shift to her for at least a little while. This would have shown that the story isn't all about Raya and it's more about man kind trying to save themselves. I would have preferred this since Raya is obnoxious and although Namari is more so it would have taken the emphasis off the singular people and onto the humanity as a whole. But they did not do it and it made the movie feel very politically driven by making all the main "strong" characters be women and all the comedy side kicks be men. Why do these movies have to be about politics?
