Spiderman has always been my favourite character in all of literature. He has helped me through my tough times at school, so I can really relate to the tichiller hero. I have watched all the previous films from the 80s ones to Sam Raimi to the Mark Webb trilogy, so I was excited to see John Watt's spin on the iconic marvel character. Overall I think this did justice to the character. The action was great, the acting was great, (I would specifically like to mentions Michael Keaton's performance as the menacing villain vulture, and relatively newcomer Tom Holland, delivering arguably the best on screen adaptation of Peter Parker AND Spiderman, something which Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield struggled with) and it felt like a retro teen and coming of age story. However I do have a few nitpicks. Making the iconic suit for Spiderman CGI was a bold move, although the end result came out unrealistic and didn't look tangible. Also, there was no mention of Uncle Ben whatsoever in this film! Which comic book fans like me to a grudge to. I do know why they did this because they wanted to set themselves apart from the other Sony trilogies. Another think that slightly angered me was how reliant Peter was to Tony Stark (Iron-Man) which changed Peter Parker's attitude from the comic books and deprived him from the creativity us readers go to see of Spider-Man making the costume himself. However we did get to see this in the final act, and Peter losing his suit gave him the determination to defeat the antagonist and was a smart learning curve put in place.
Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Yes there some slight problems I had, like it not being as comic book accurate as I hoped it to be but that isn't a bad thing necessarily.
My rating is 8.5/10.
