Chips Ahoy

I know there’s a lot of people who enjoy and like this book but I personally wasn’t a big fan nor liked it. The writing is great imo, especially for those who like fast paced reading. But the characters aren’t it. There’s this main girl I think her name is Charolette and she’s just super annoying! She’s selfish, arrogant and acts like a spoiled jealous brat. Anytime Emerson is even near a woman this girl acts super immature like a jealous high school girl. (I’m aware she’s 21 and people in their early 20s tense to not be as mature but this girl is on a whole different level smh…). Not to mention she acts like she has the worst life ever just because her ex was horrible to her. Yes it can be a hard process to overcome but she acts as if she’s any better. For example there’s one scene where she wanted to get Emerson jealous just because she had her mini tantrum of a woman interacting with him which wasn’t even a huge deal like it was literally just a simple conversation so she went out of her way to make out with this older woman in front of Emerson just to get a reaction out of him, and yet she hates guys who do the exact thing she just did. Oh yeah there’s also a lot of scenes where she gets jealous just because Emerson’s son (Charolettes ex) engages with him. Like ok I get it your boyfriend acted up just like you, but that’s his father! She’s constantly trying to make everything about her and complains like a spoiled brat when nothing goes her way. It’s also crazy how she acts like no one loves her and that everyone’s against her when her mother was supportive over her and her age gap with Emerson, a younger supportive sister that defended her each and every way, Emerson spoils her and gives her everything and hell even that weird club Emerson works with, the people there treat her properly. But instead she acts like an ungrateful brat. Emerson is another eh character, though I personally think charlotte is more annoying. Emerson is more complicated than anything. One moment he’s mature and dominant the next he acts like a cry baby. However I will say the spicy scenes were top (idk why people keep saying it wasn’t that spicy cuz it was! If people aren’t satisfied with the spice they most likely have a dark bdsm kink lol). But hey if others out there like this book that’s great but for me it wasn’t mature enough for a romance/spicy book.
