NOTE: Please give the show a chance and watch all 5 episodes.....
Kevin Smith atleast so far has a pinky worth of nostalgia that Dave Filoni of Star Wars does. Can you imagine watching something Transformers without Optimus Prime? They tried that in the 80s, failed miserably. Unfortunately this looked that way until the last episode, so please watch all 5. Is Teela the new Queen Bee? Maybe. Heman doesn't need to take a back seat but simply a more supportive role.. We have a female version of Heman, it's SheRa, so no need to dumb down the male main character. Was this an attempt to kill off a male hero for political woke-ness?? So far way to many characters deaths in the first five episodes, many of them feel rushed. Then again, is anyone really ever dead in these fantasy based cartoons and movies. My guess is Heman will return in some form. But everything that has been done in this cartoon feels rushed and political. And that's where the fun is sucked out of it. Don't get me wrong this show has its moments. What was good in the 80s could definitely be good again without all the rhetoric. We all want to see powerful woman but we already have that here. The creators took care of this in the 80s when they created two separate Warriors (Heman / SheRa) gave both gender of children something to claim. Now we have a water down version of SheRa as Teela and all her gal pals. I'll give it another season and check back. The artwork and voice overs are amazing and should be celebrated!!! Let's hope this isn't the end of Eternia's greatest Warrior. After seeing some reviews this reminds me of when they killed off Optimus Prime in the 80s cartoon movie, only to bring him back by popular demand after kids locked themselves in rooms until they fixed it. All I ask is please don't kill my childhood... and if the Big Guy does return, maybe a more elaborate artwork and music score when he changes into Heman would be nice. It doesn't need to be Cheesy Cheesecake but it's kinda anticlimactic so far.
