The story line is very interesting and she truly was an amazing woman, but the writing was too stilted and data drive for me. I had a difficult time wanting pick up the book and return to the the pages where I had left off, but I persevered.

The author writes a compassionate look at Jacqueline Kennedy and one can tell she is fascinated by her subject. Unfortunately, I came away not liking Mrs Kennedy. Many have lost babies without having to fly away to another country to heal. She appeared to look down on the Kennedy family except for Mr Kennedy, who was glorified in this telling,and Robert Kennedy. She was thoughtless of Ethel Kennedy’s feelings. To me Mrs Kennedy came across as a cold woman unless it was in her best interest not to be.

I was mesmerized by the writing of this book. Such beautiful visual effects created by the words of this author. This will always remain my favorite book. I think the book description leads one to think this is a typical World War 2 novel about the treatment of Jews. But it isn’t!! It is the story of words, a German family and a realistic view of war. And the narrator, as Death, is full of color, love, sorrow and caring.
