Good take on the well trodden path of time travel to save someone. Solid but not outstanding performances from most of the cast, especially Washinton. Shame about the sick making, predictable ending.

Stunning photography/visuals/special effects but no real depth to the story and overly long. A bit "preachy" too! We already know that native cultures got a really hard time from explorers/settlers and we should save the whale!. However, the irony is that the other (I think!) unintentional message is that however intelligent and however peaceful your intentions are, the only answer is extreme violence!

The fist half an hour is truly awful. Wooden acting, an overuse of CGI, poor attempts at jokes (not humour, it was nowhere near humour) and a total under utilisation of the Guardians cast. It did pick up a little after that but it never made it anywhere near Ragnarok. Perhaps my expectations were just too high? While some of the big scenes looked good on the big screen I'd suggest waiting until it's on Disney+
