In the almost two hour documentary “ Music Box: Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss” it provides an exciting, but tragic perspective into the life of Jarad Anthony Higgins. Mr. Higgins, also known by his rap moniker Juice Wrld, was born on December 2nd, 1998. The documentary follows the young African American man being lunged into stardom, fame, and taking the world by storm with his touching lyrics and off the chain freestyles. I feel as though the documentary does very well at displaying his day to day routines and truly grasped who he was as a person.
Plot
To summarize, the documentary follows Higgins through his creative mindset and passion for music, it also shows his love for his family, friends ,and fans. The film gives you a great understanding of everyone that was around Higgins and who they were to him such as people he looked to for inspiration or to confined in when things got to crazy for him. The film also highlights his creative process when it came to recording music, but the film also highlights his struggling addiction to controlled substances such as Percocet’s and lean.
Technical and critique1
The documentary does a sensational job at the music choice a lot of the music heard within the film was Higgins own pieces that where in the works or being completed, and are still unreleased. The film also did a great job at editing all the pieces of the documentary together you can tell that it was a collective of recordings but the way they brought it all together really helps the watcher understand the time in which the events took place so you could never really be lost whilst watching it. When it came to casting they did a good job at being able to interview those who spent the most time with Higgins and the people that really knew him the best and those that where there on the plane on that tragic day.
Conclusion .
All in all the film did a wonderful job at catching the essences of Mr. Higgins as a friend, a son, and a artist it shows how serious he took his craft and how he wasn’t even doing it for himself but more so his fans it give you the understanding of what he was going through and dealing with. I would personally recommend the documentary to anyone cause its sad to say his story is not so different from a lot of others wither it be music artist are regular everyday people he had such a big fan bas cause people related to his pain and depression and we see time and time again these young artists are taking their lives or accidently overdosing on these drugs trying to escape something. I would give this film a solid five out of five.
