I unashamedly adore Outlander. I chose to live in a “suspension of disbelief”. Sit back and enjoy. I could extoll all its virtues - but, that’s been done to the 100th degree. What I would like to comment on is Droughtlander. If ratings have dropped - it’s most certainly not the fault of the hard-working actors. Nor, the thousands of support staff that make Outlander one of the most beloved series ever. I have an incredible beef with the studios and powers that be that think they can literally pause a YEAR in a split season. Or, Starz, hanging on to its release to manipulate subscriptions. ( The subscribers WILL have the last word - kinda like the presidential election ).
The machinations of every aspect of Hollywood and independent film companies is coming home to roost. Can we say Disney, Marvel and more? A gem like Outlander is a breath of fresh air amongst all the lazy, repetitive, uninspired movies for theatre and TV. AND STILL - the owners found a way to take the shine off that gem . . . with greed and the belief that those who pay to view aren’t in charge. Your hubris will be your undoing.
