This book was profoundly comforting during one of the hardest seasons of my life. I found myself angry at God for her hurt, for not redeeming her situation, for dealing her too hard of a hand of cards (projecting much?).
Yet as I read on, expecting a grandiose redemption story where the Lord ‘made things right’ for our faithful Vaneetha, that wasn’t her story. My heart softened and faith grew. God doesn’t work how we expect Him to, and full surrender to our Savior doesn’t mean just hanging on until the tide changes on our situation. There is so much He can do in our life in the middle of the storm.
Vaneetha’s story inspired but challenged my faith and renewed my endurance on this side of Heaven.
